AMAZON’S PRIME DAY TROUBLE: AN INSIDERS SCOOP

Within the first 15 minutes of Prime Day, problems arose within Amazon’s capacity to handle traffic on their site, as proven in internal documents. CNBC’s Eugene Kim writes about Amazon’s troubles during its “biggest shopping event in company history” and gives a breakdown of the day with the opinions of what went wrong from notable experts in the tech field. Amazon is forced to scramble in response to their higher-than-expected traffic surge and subsequent glitches in the site.

The issue stemmed from a breakdown in an internal system called Sable. Sable was used to provide computation and storage services to its retail and digital businesses. When this system broke down, a domino effect pursued and the services dependent on it began to glitch. Amazon customers experienced the consequences as Amazon was forced to simplify their web page, temporarily cut off international traffic and stop services.

FACEBOOK’S BUG STOPS PRIVACY SETTING FOR 14 MILLION USERS

Facebook’s dug themselves further into the privacy scandal as a bug prevented users from controlling privacy settings on newly posted statuses. Wired’s, Emily Waite, reviews the event explaining the bug further and how it affected Facebook users. Waite goes on to reference Facebook’s past with privacy issues and scandals which could lead to serious consequences for Facebook soon if these issues continue to persist. The article also gives a reminder to all users to be careful and watch their privacy settings to ensure their information is safe.

LOGIGEAR TESTARCHITECT FOR ORACLE APPS, ACCUSOFT FORMSUITE FOR STRUCTURED FORMS 5.1, AND NVIDIA’S MATERIAL DEFINITION LANGUAGE SDK

LogiGear, Accusoft, NVIDIA, and eBay have all been very busy working on releasing new integrations, software, and features. LogiGear announced that its Test Automation solution, TestArchitect, now implements and offers support for Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle JD Edwards. Accusoft released a new version of FormSuite that includes new features such as the ability to clone form templates. NVIDIA is giving developers the ability to integrate MDL support into rendering apps and eBay gives develops new APIs and AI capabilities.
